The Best Mail Order Holiday Desserts
"I selected them because they taste so damned good, particularly The Challah Connection Rugelach, Apple-Honey, which has a wonderful fruity sweetness, and a crackly sugar sprinkle on top. My second fave is The Challah Connection Rugelach, Raspberry, which has a great fruit preserve flavor. Also good are The Challah Connection Rugelach , Chocolate (which has a wonderful chocolate flavor with a kind of acidity to it), and The Challah Connection Rugelach, Cinnamon, which, though tasty, seemed a little drier than the others."... The Challah Connection brings Shabbat to your door.
"Besides Jewish, we have a general Eastern European feel - Hungarian, Polish, Italian... it's all sort of ethic that blends in. It's not just Jewish heritage, it's a cultural heritage" that appeals to people, Moritz says.
But what seems to attract the greatest number of clients is the convenience: for instance, The Challah Connection retains a large Manhattan client base, although these foods are widely available in the city. "Some people have so much money that a $10 delivered Challah is just convenient," says Moritz. For others, such as her Midwest clients for whom Jewish fare is a rarity, "it's just a luxury that they look forward to. They know their Challah and treats will arrive each Friday."

"The first year was the big learning curve - finding just the right baker, making sure the baked goods were of high
quality, locating a delivery warehouse for shipping, making sure we could deliver on time. My products are kosher certified, very high end and definitely not the cheapest in town because my standards are very high, but they are the best around," she said.
